Tim Baxter joined Standard Chartered Bank in January 2007.  As group head of corporate communications, he has responsibility for the bank’s media relations strategy and corporate news; corporate publications and editorial; internal and leadership communications for around 90,000 staff; and online and social communications, across the bank’s footprint markets, predominantly in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Prior to the bank, he worked for the London City PR agency College Hill as head of its corporate practice. Before that was partner in a boutique corporate communications agency, during which time he was seconded to McKinsey & Company’s London office for three years as head of external relations.

He was previously with Burson-Marsteller, managing the pan-European PR network for Visa International, and has held in-house roles at Barclays Bank and Coopers & Lybrand, and worked for the agency Charles Barker, which included a period of secondment to Abernathy McGregor in New York. He started his career as a marketing trainee.

He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the Arthur W Page Society, and has been in PR Week’s Power Book since 2008.
