BCG examined public and private sector leaders’ opinions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in working against climate change.

A survey of 1,005 global leaders in 14 countries was conducted in May 2022.

Key findings include:

  • 87% of climate leaders and AI experts said AI is a helpful tool in the fight against climate change.
  • Leaders who already use AI to fight climate change identified obstacles:78% cited inexperience with AI inside and out of the organization.
  • 67% said they felt a lack of confidence in the AI data and analysis.
  • Reducing emissions (61%) and measuring emissions (57%) were the AI areas that provided the most business value.
