John Hodgins
The Annie E. Casey Foundation

John Hodgins has spent his communications career striving to improve the lives of America’s children and families.

He currently serves as a senior communications manager at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, a national philanthropy established by the founder of UPS. In this role, he oversees the organization’s digital communications and signature publications, promoting the Foundation’s lessons, solutions and equity focus to policymakers, public officials, grantmakers and more. He joined the Foundation in 2004, initially serving as the communications officer for an initiative providing foster care and social services throughout New England and in Baltimore, Maryland.

John earned his master’s in communications management from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During the program, he conducted research on executives’ attitudes toward social media, crisis communications and the adoption of podcasts as a public relations strategy. At Newhouse, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa for his achievements. 

He also earned professional certificates from New York University in public relations, digital marketing and project management. In 2022, he completed a master class in immersive media from the Institute for Public Relations.

A proud Maine native, John now lives in Baltimore, Maryland, with his partner.
