Rory leads Enterprise Communications at Citizens Financial Group, the parent company of Citizens, a super-regional bank that serves customers nationally with operations in 14 states and $225.3 billion in assets. He leads a team responsible for advancing the bank’s positioning around key reputation-drivers at the corporate level, externally and internally, including financial and operational execution, technology, customer experience, data and analytics, payments, ESG and innovation. With nearly 20 years of experience as a public spokesman, Rory is also responsible for crisis and incident communications helping to protect the company’s brand.

Before joining Citizens, Rory led Corporate Reputation at Anthem Inc. (now known as Elevance Health), a Fortune 20 company that operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in 14 states as well as Medicaid and Medicare plans across the country. He was responsible for developing enterprise-level thought leadership programs to further the company’s standing with healthcare thought leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders as well as the development of the company’s clinical story in support of its Chief Clinical Officer.

Rory began his career in politics serving as Press Secretary and lead Digital Strategist for Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings and Democrats on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He was tasked with creating impactful digital campaigns to further the Committee’s legislative efforts including the support of women’s rights, access to quality and affordable healthcare, and gun control in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook tragedy. He also served as the Press Secretary to United States Congressman Bill Delahunt and drove efforts to secure positive coverage on the Congressman’s work to curb violence against women internationally, support human rights efforts in the Middle East, and showcase legislative wins such as the reform of the FBI’s confidential informant program and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
