Steve Tatum is the head of corporate communications for Valent U.S.A., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical, which provides safe, innovative crop protection solutions that advance sustainable agriculture throughout North America. In this role, Steve is responsible for all aspects of corporate communications including executive communications, media relations, crisis communications, change management, and social media. He has over 25 years of communications and public relations experience, spanning government, corporate and nonprofit organizations.
Prior to joining Valent in 2017, Steve worked at Kaiser Permanente, holding IT communications roles supporting technology services and cybersecurity programs. He also held various communications leadership roles at Lockheed Martin for over 13 years, and served in the California State Government, including as assistant press secretary to the Governor from 1994 to 1999. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of California, Davis, and a master’s degree in communication management from the University of Southern California.
