The Institute for Public Relations, the only independent foundation in the field of public relations dedicated to research, measurement and education, announced today the election of two new trustees.

Named to the IPR Board are William C. Heyman, founder, president and chief executive officer, Heyman Associates, Inc., New York and David M. Monfried, senior vice president, corporate communications, MetLife. “Both are outstanding industry leaders and we are proud to have them join the IPR Board of Trustees,” said Jack Felton, IPR CEO.

Bill Heyman’s career in executive search and public relations spans more than two decades. Prior to founding Heyman Associates in 1898, he was a vice president of The Cantor Concern, also an executive search firm. Earlier assignments included: director of development and fundraising for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, headquartered in Yorktown Height, NY; assistant director of admissions at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA; and admissions counselor at the University of Detroit.

Dave Monfried who has been senior vice president, corporate communications, for MetLife since 2002, is responsible for the company’s worldwide advertising, public relations, branding, creative services and internal communications. Before joining MetLife, he was vice president of corporate communications for The St. Paul Companies, a leading property-casualty insurer and reinsurer. Prior to that Dave held a similar position with the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, was manager of corporate communications for Pacific Gas and worked for The Equitable, eventually managing its public relations, advertising and sports marketing programs.

The Institute for Public Relations (IPR) was founded in 1956 as the Foundation for Public Relations Research and Education. IPR is dedicated to improving the professional practice of public relations around the world and encouraging academic and professional excellence in the field of public relations.

The IPR includes the Commission on Public Relations Measurement and Evaluation which is widely regarded as the pre-eminent source of best practices and advocacy for research and evaluation.
