About the Race:
Help support IPR! The Institute for Public Relations is hosting the first-ever IPR Virtual Run for Research 5K/10K. It’s very easy to do—pledge to walk or run at least 3.1 miles individually or with a team and then complete the challenge from August 1 to September 30. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal.

Cost (includes shirt, finisher medal, and shipping costs):
Early- Bird Rate through July 31: $45
August 1 – September 30: $50

How Does It Work?

Anyone from anywhere around the world can join. Here is what you will need to do:

  1. Sign-up to run or walk individually or as a team (see team guidelines) for a 5k (3.1 miles) or 10k (6.2 miles). Follow event updates on Facebook at www.facebook.com/instituteforpr.
  2. Choose a place, date and time to do a run or walk (while practicing physical distancing)
  3. Run or walk any time between August 1 to September 30, 2020 while recording your time and distance. You can complete this over multiple days.
  4. Upload your time or send us verification of your participation! We will send you detailed instructions of how to do that. To qualify for an award, you must submit a verifiable time.
  5. Show us your run on social using the hashtag #Run4IPR. The best social picture will receive a prize!

Performance T-shirts and Medals:

All registrants will receive a performance t-shirt and medal (shipping will be an additional $10 for outside the US). Register by July 31st to guarantee your shirt size.  Those who register after July 31st will receive a shirt, however it is not guaranteed to be in your desired size. The shirt is a 65/35 polyester/cotton blend. It comes in the following sizes: small, medium, large, XL, XXL, and 3XL. (Please note: Now t-shirt size is not guaranteed)

Studies show that regular exercise improves well-being in a myriad of ways. These benefits include reduced anxiety and depression, increased energy, improved sleep, stress relief, and improved mood, among others. In this time of uncertainty, exercise can be especially useful. 

Team Guidelines

What’s more fun than running by yourself? Virtually running with your co-workers, family, or friends. Compete against others in the PR industry to qualify for the best team awards.

Our teams challenge allows you to create and name your team while competing against other companies, agencies, and universities in the PR industry.

  • Teams should choose a name and select a team leader
  • Teams should be at least 4 individuals, but can be as many as you want
  • Teams are eligible to run all distances
  • The cumulative times of the four fastest individuals will be added to create the team time. 10k runners on a 5k team can still qualify to win the fastest 5k.
  • Each member still register online separately.
  • No additional costs for team enrollment

When registering, be sure to select “yes, I want to join a team or create a team” at the bottom of the form. This will take you to your team page where you will need your team password to join. This is created by a team leader. 


Individual Awards will be given out in the following categories: 

  • Most creative picture on social media #Run4IPR
  • The Fastest 5K
  • The Fastest 10K

Team Awards will be given out in the following categories: 

  • Most creative picture on social media #Run4IPR
  • The Fastest 5K Team
  • The Fastest 10K Team
