Public relations professionals and educators who want to deepen their knowledge of measurement and evaluation will find essential resources in a new Bibliography of Public Relations Measurement developed by Tina Carroll and Dr. Don W. Stacks of the University of Miami.

The bibliography is being published by the Institute for Public Relations. The document can be downloaded free here: Bibliography of Public Relations Measurement.

“Measurement is a fundamental part of the science underlying the art of public relations. This new bibliography defines a knowledge base that every serious practitioner and educator should know is available,” said Jack Felton, CEO of the Institute.

The bibliography covers general and advanced research topics, measurement scales and scaling techniques, reliability, cases and research reports, peer-reviewed journals and other published sources of information on public relations measurement. It includes more than 125 citations from leading measurement authorities. The titles range from Research Doesn’t Have to Put You in the Poorhouse and What You Need to Know to Measure Investor Relations to Guidelines for Measuring Trust in Organizations.

“We have made no assumptions about the reader’s level of sophistication because we want the bibliography to be useful for academic and practitioner researchers at all levels,” said Stacks, a Trustee of the Institute and Director of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Miami School of Communication. “This publication represents a starting point from which readers can focus on their own measurement needs.”

The Institute for Public Relations was founded in 1956 and is dedicated to improving the professional practice of public relations through research, education, measurement and evaluation. The IPR includes the Commission on Public Relations Measurement and Evaluation, widely regarded as the pre-eminent source of best practices in areas.
