Morning Consult explored the public’s interest in and concerns around the metaverse. The metaverse is a computer-generated environment in which users can interact with each other via virtual reality technology.

A survey of 4,420 U.S. adults was conducted from March 3-5, 2022.

Key Findings include:

  • 36% of U.S. adults said they are interested in the metaverse.
  • 36% of adults said they have heard “a lot” or “some” about the metaverse while 63% of adults have heard “not much” or “nothing at all” about the metaverse.
  • Men (46%) are more interested in the metaverse than women (28%).
  • Black and Hispanic adults (52%) said they are interested in entering the metaverse, far ahead of the 34% of white adults who said the same.
