Korn Ferry and Vira Health explored women’s experiences receiving support, performing at work, and making career progress while going through menopause.

An online survey of 8,026 women who were experiencing or have previously experienced perimenopause or menopause while working was conducted in the U.K., U.S., and Australia from April 20 – May 9, 2023.

Key findings include:

1.) 47% of respondents said they experienced menopause-related symptoms that disrupted their lives and their work performance.
2.) 39% of respondents said they received support from social aspects outside of work for their needs around perimenopause/menopause, compared to those who received support from formal work policies or programs (26%).
3.) Respondents were more likely to say they’ve talked or were willing to talk with their manager about their perimenopause/menopause experience if their manager was female (46%) compared to male (33%).
4.) 18% of respondents said their symptoms negatively impacted their salary, followed by having a negative impact on their role as a leader (15%).
