Pew Research Center analyzed U.S. adults’ opinions on TikTok and how those opinions vary based on their posting activity.

A survey of 869 U.S. adults with a valid TikTok handle was conducted in August 2023. The survey was distributed to members of the Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP) – an online survey panel that is recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses.

Key findings include:
1.) 40% of users said their “For You” page is either extremely or very interesting.
2.) The top 25% of users produced 98% of all publicly accessible videos.
3.) Overall, 52% of U.S. adults have posted at least one video on TikTok.
4.) The median user follows 154 accounts, but just has 36 followers.
5.) 48% have never posted any videos and 60% have no public videos.
