David joined Cox Automotive to communicate the value of over 20 leading brands that are transforming how the world buys, sells and owns cars. He is a proven communications leader and innovator with a successful track record of creative, award-winning campaigns that deliver measurable results. Previously, David was Vice President of Global Communications at Newell Rubbermaid, where he built the consumer products company’s first communications function from scratch, including a global team based in Atlanta, Sao Paulo, Geneva and Hong Kong. David led transformation for two CEOs, helped create a community of practice for PR/social media engagement teams across the company’s 15+ key brands, and launched the company’s first corporate social channels.

Before that, David was a group vice president at Ketchum Public Relations, where he partnered with corporate, technology, and consumer clients; led several crisis communications and litigation response teams; and served as a media spokesperson for clients.

Earlier, he was a Senior Account Executive at Crescent Communications, a full-service marketing communications boutique specializing in technology clients. David started his career as an international trade journalist.

David is a two-time recipient of the highest communications award (the Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil) for both public relations and employee communications. In addition to holding a B.A. in English from Carleton College, he has completed graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also studied at the University of Trier in Germany. He serves on the Board of Directors for Project GRAD, an organization that strives to improve graduation rates at inner-city high schools.
