PRovoke Media studied ESG, DEI, and budget trends in communication functions across Asia-Pacific.

A survey of more than 120 senior in-house communications executives across the APAC region was conducted during the second quarter of 2023. 

Key findings include:

1.) 54% of respondents expressed high confidence levels in their businesses over the next 12 months.
— 69% of respondents were highly confident that the perceived value of the communications function would not decline over the next 12 months. 
2.) 41% of respondents said ESG was extremely important to their role as a communications leader, followed by 27% who said it was very important, 20% who said it was somewhat important, and 10% who said it was not so important.
3.) 31% of respondents said their organization had an effective DEI policy, followed by 51% who said theirs was somewhat effective, 6% who said it was not so effective, and 10% who reported not having any DEI policies.
4.) 33% of respondents’ organizations spent more than $4m on communication in 2023, compared to 29% in 2022.
— 18% of respondents’ organizations spent less than $1m on communication, compared to 27% in 2022.
